Today, Thursday 27 August, a new album from the Improvvisatore Involontario label is released with a great novelty: for the first time, in addition to the digital format and the CD, vinyl will also be available.
It is Imaginary Geographies debut album of The Pier Jazz Fourtet formed by Pier Chiaraluce (double bass and composition), Leonardo Francesconi (piano and arrangements), Giammarco Polini (guitar and arrangements), Mauro Cimarra (drums, arrangement of track 7); and three special guests: Massimo Gerini (vocals), Antonino De Luca (accordion) and Roberto Piermartire (flugelhorn).
The disc will be presented on Friday 28 August at the seventh edition of Fabri Jazz in Fabriano at the Poio gardens at 21.30.
In Imaginary Geographies each composition tells a unique scenario of our world: the group thus explores India (Raga and Tala), passing through Istanbul (Istiklal Avenue), where the more or less traditional sounds heard by Pier are recalled. Chiaraluce through the streets and in the restaurants of the city, until it reaches Latin America (La Cumbrecita, Imaginary Geographies). The tracks sound original, like the band, which becomes a quintet or a combo when needed.
This disc collects all the compositions written by the leader Pier Chiraluce over a year, with the intention of putting them on a disc. It is a continuous construction, also from the point of view of the arrangements, which took another year and in which it involved those who have been collaborating regularly for a long time. It is a record that expresses the way of playing between 2018 and 2019, and the way of writing matured in 10 years, a time that, after graduating from high school, he devoted mainly to jazz and choral music, to then abandon the second and concentrate almost exclusively on the first.
