Hatcham Social was initially a three piece comprising brothers Tobias (Gtr/Lead Vocal) and Finnegan Kidd (Drums/Vocals) plus David Fineberg (Bass/Vocals). Simultaneously with duties in Hatcham Social, Finn also played drums with Klaxons, playing on the original 2006 recordings of their debut and follow-up singles, (his parts were re-recorded for later versions). Reportedly when Finn was asked to choose between Klaxons and Hatcham Social he chose to work with his brother.
Turning points were working with Tim Burgess (Charlatans) who produced 2007 single 'Til The Dawn' and Faris Badwan (The Horrors) who produced 2008 single 'So So Happy Making'. These led to the band signing with US label TBD (whose roster previously only included Radiohead and two other acts) and the Burgess produced debut album. TBD then licensed the ablum to Fierce Panda for UK / European release.
The three piece line-up remained constant until Jerome Watson (ex Bono Must Die) was recruited (2008) for live shows playing 2nd guitar, keyboards and various electronica.
From 2009 Charlie Boyer (of Electricity In Our Homes) was added for some shows to create a 5 instrument live line-up, initially playing 3rd guitar, sometimes with Amy Jane Studt also providing live vocals. By early 2010 Watson was only playing guitar in live shows.
In the spring of 2010 Fineberg announced he was leaving, his role on bass eventually settled with Riley Difford (of Red Drapes). Later in 2010 Watson also left to concentrate on his other projects, and was replaced by David Claxton.
