This live concert recording from April 7, 2016 is of the premiere performance of Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 8 in the new organ-choral version by organist David Briggs. Conductor Kent Tritle leads soloists and 351 choristers, including singers from the Manhattan School of Music Women’s Chorus, Manhattan School of Music Symphonic Chorus, Cathedral Choristers from Cathedral of St. John the Divine, New York, and the Oratorio Society of New York. David Briggs performs the full symphonic score as an organ transcription on the Great Organ of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York.
