An American Progressive / Hard Rock band hailing from Topeka, Kansas, formed in 1973.
The Best Of Kansas is a collection of songs by the American progressive rock band Kansas. The album was released in August 1984 via CBS. Kansas, performing progressive and art rock, went down in history as one of the first and leading groups of the so-called "stadium rock". The Best Of Kansas is the first compilation of the American progressive rock band Kansas. It was originally released in 1984 and contained one new song "Perfect Lover", written by then-vocalist John Elefante and his brother Dino Elefante. The "Carry On Wayward Son" and "The Wall" versions are specially remixed versions for this edition only. The album cover, by artist Steve Carver, is a parody of a 1939 painting by Grant Wood by Parsons Weems, pointing to the famous scene of George Washington and George's father asking how young George had just cut down a cherry tree with his ax. The cover contains elements of nearly every previous Kansas album cover.
