Cuban Jam Session in Miniature, Descargas was led by mambo innovator, band leader and master bassist Israel “Cachao” López, one of the most influential musicians in Cuban music. Descargas, serving as Volume 4 of The Complete Cuban Jam Sessions, would take on mythic proportions over the years. Author and music critic Tom Moon included it in his “1,000 Recordings to Hear Before You Die,” and Cachao’s Afro-Cubano sound influenced everyone from Stravinsky to Gershwin to Carlos Santana (who performed with him in 1989).
Cuban Jam Session in Miniature, "Descargas" is now available to stream in its entirety in celebration of Cachao’s centennial. “Trombon Criollo” is available as an instant grat single with all digital album pre-orders for The Complete Cuban Jam Sessions.
