Latin jazz master Pucho Brown was one of the great discoveries of the acid jazz era. His Got Myself A Good Man defined the era and he has toured off the back of it's success ever since to a large international audience. The release of Saffron & Soul and Shuckin'& Jivin' completes BGP's reissue of the classic Prestige recordings on which his reputation is built.
Saffron & Soul is the sound of a top-notch Latin jazz band in full flight. Covers of recent hits by the Four Tops sit alongside the classic Caravan, the dancefloor heat of Something Black and the mod jazz groove of What A Piece.
Shuckin' & Jivin' is the first of Pucho's Latin Soul albums and features pianist Neal Creque and vocalist Jackie Soul. The title track and a stunning You Are My Sunshine have made this sought after by DJs, but the album is high quality from start to finish and ends with a great version of Herbie Hancock's Maiden Voyage.
This two on one CD release is remastered from the original master tapes and comes with an sleeve note by project supervisor Dean Rudland.
