This month CPO announce the release of their final volume of the complete edition of Max Bruch's works for violin and orchestra with the superb violinist Antje Weithaas. Bruch's friendships first with Joseph Joachim and then later with Pablo de Sarasate were a great source of inspiration. The result: his three concertos (actually four, if we count the four-movement Serenade), the Fantasy, a Konzertstück, and various other pieces not only constitute what is by far the largest work group within his symphonic oeuvre but also without exception occupy the absolute heights in the concert literature of the nineteenth century. Our Vol. 3 features the rarely performed and wrongly neglected Violin Concerto No. 3 in D minor Op. 58.
