The sequence of pieces on this disc aims to showcase the unique sounds of the Oratory organ which as well as providing subtle and sensitive accompaniment to traditional Catholic liturgy, has a distinctive voice as a solo instrument with an engaging palette of tone and colour. The programme falls into two main sections: chant and chorale based music written between the 16th and 18th centuries, together with more recent chant inspired works from the 20th century.
