Sydney five-piece The Uplifting Bell Ends release their magical new LP Super Giant III, the third in a trilogy of the same name. Overflowing with country twangs, refreshing folk-rock and psychedelic grit, the 14-track album explores both the simplicities and complexities of life. It’s a well-rounded hit of vibrant Aussie rock and roll, and we’re very pleased to be providing its very first spin.
Within thirty seconds, the tone of the album is set – you’re immediately invited to a social gathering of great guitars, colourful keys and raw production. While the underlying theme of having a bloody good time is central to everything they do, this album sees The Bell Ends touch on more mature themes of self-preservation and emotional awareness too. It’s an open conversation from start to finish, audio recordings of friends weave their way through every track, delivering an intimate sonic experience.
Heartfelt melodic numbers such as ‘Heart Of Stone’, ‘When It’s All In Vain’ and ‘The Butterfly And The Caterpillar’ offer small but powerful pearls of lyrical wisdom. While the 60s inspired groove of other songs such as ‘Super Giant (Again)’ and ‘Listen’ provide us with the looser, psych-driven instrumental escapism that's hard to resist. It’s a dynamic collection of songs that sees them floating somewhere on a scale between carefree larrikins and genuine free spirits. Whatever the mood, prepare for the chaos - it’s always going to be a wild ride with The Uplifting Bell Ends.
