Worked with Scat Man Crothers (late 1930's), Cootie Williams, Lucky Millinder (early 1940s), Cab Calloway, Ray Charles, Buddy Johnson, Louis Jordan, Big Joe Turner, Ella Fitzgerald and many others.
Nickname: "The Man".
