A three-piece hard rock band from Texas, active in the late 1970s.
Profile Obscure style hard southern rock album from a Texas based 3-piece. This was originally a self produced private pressing, mainly used to promote the band and get live bookings, with the remainder sold at gigs. As such, you’d expect the budgetary constraints of such an endeavour to be apparent in the recordings therein. That is truly not the case here, with the sound & production, putting many major label efforts of the day to shame. Unfortunately this was the only album they produced, and due to it’s obscurity it has only recently, since it’s cd reissue, begun to garner the acclaim it always deserved. A shame, as this is a great disc, and it’s creators deserved better.
If you’re a fan of the Jacksonville boogie barons, then this here disc is sure to be right up your street. From the opening barrage of “Fox Hunting”, Blackhorse rarely let the pace or intensity drop, although when they do, as on the sublime “Cannot Find My Way Home”, they show what excellent songwriters and musicians they were, swapping the bombast of the harder tracks for a more soulful vulnerability.A CD was re-issued in 1993 but only a 1000 were produced thus making it very scarce. If you like awesome ’70’s hard rock with cool lead guitars, throaty vocals and killer production, and bands like Blackfoot and Molly Hatchet, track this down.
