Photay - Waking Hours (2020) [Hi-Res]

Today marks the release of my new record, Waking Hours. In an effort to continue supporting black lives and the fight for social justice, I will be donating 100% of the proceeds from the first 2 weeks of digital bandcamp sales. These donations will go to Equality For Flatbush, a POC led organization doing anti-police repression, affordable housing and anti-gentrification/ anti-displacement work in Flatbush and across Brooklyn, NY. Mexican Summer will match these donations up to $1k.

I have mixed feelings toward promoting my own work as a white person during this time. However, I do believe the messages and frequencies within this record are relevant. I know music plays its own crucial role in transforming minds and systems where words may not. ⁣

This record is a navigation through the times we live in. It is not a call to simply do nothing but rather an emphasis on the importance of stillness and reflection amidst our rapidly accelerating world. Waking Hours is a call to question systems, routines and actions that have been normalized in our society. It is a call to question our own actions, our own routines and the way we spend our time. Please find a collection of lyrical reminders and mantras within, intended for repetitive use in the years and decades to come. ⁣
