Progressive rock band from Taunton, formed circa 1968 out of the ashes of school r&b band Levitation. Self-quoted influences included: Coltrane, Miles Davis, Fairport Convention, Pharoah Sanders, Soft Machine, Yes and Zappa. All this and more blended into a unique brand of symphonic jazz prog. Marsupilami made two albums and were especially popular in Germany, and featured German jazz winds player Mandi Riedelbauch on their second album. Their greatest claim to fame was being the opening act at the 1969 Isle Of Wight festival. The band split-up in summer 1971 with some members going on to CMU. In 2011 Fred Hasson formed a new version of the band with young musicians.
