This is my debut solo album “Even in Arcadia: a deserted person’s guide to mountain life”. It consists of 10 original space folk songs and ditties, as well as a couple of covers. It was recorded in a week during May 2016 at Rhoino, Arcadia, Greece (37°39′50″N 22°13′0″E / 6000 ft).
If you think escaping your familiar material ain’t an impossible task, I’m the one to reassure you that it is, even in Arcadia. I never knew from before though and briefly that’s the story behind my choice to record those songs as a mountaineer on Mount Menalo. What you’re about to hear is me, the deserted one meeting my voice.
The only specific piece of advice you can have on listening to those recordings of my short yet astonishing mountain life is that they address solely to the deserted one, the only real listener, inside the rural space.
This album may appear sad on sight, but don’t worry. It's in fact, a serendipitous souvenir of a rejoicing moment, from when I got even in Arcadia.
Working on this together with Iraklis was the only thing that kept me on track during the harsh April of 2020 that I’m not going to forget for the rest of my life. Consequently, I can’t be anything but extremely grateful for recording it, keeping it in the emergency cabinet, and breaking the glass on time.
This is my personal safety vest, and regardless of anything else, I share it with you. This is a young me I no longer recognize singing about stuff I can hardly remember. The one thing I do remember is that all songs were written back in the days for people who never perceived “outside” as a barely safe option and this album goes to them. Thanks to Iraklis and all the people that put their faith and effort into this. I hope you can get all the comfort I got from listening to it. Hold on and stay tight.
