Blanc Motif - Maze (2020)

Maze’ is the debut album by Blanc Motif, a production duo from Porto, Portugal, created by André Miranda and Rodrigo Ferreira. The project was founded to explore the pair’s passion for improvisation and manipulating found sounds, forming the building blocks with which they create techno-shaped sound pieces that simultaneously evoque quiet introspection and dance floor hedonism.

Created between Porto and Rotterdam, the songs that make up ‘Maze’ are fast-paced yet contemplative, built over long improvisation sessions that reshape one’s perceptions of time and space. Blanc Motif’s music acts as a conduit through which we navigate through both of these realms, a roadmap to sonic experimentation through the manipulation of sound fragments from another time.

From the relentlessly hypnotic drum patterns in ‘Untitled’, to the unsettling droning synths in ’High Way’ or slowed-down pulsating beat of ‘Space Drifting’, Blanc Motif’s ’Maze’ is available now on digital and cassette on 1980.
