Laïs - 25 jaar Laïs (2019)

25 years after that first song on the folk music stage in Gooik, they go on tour again with a journey in their own work, and some new songs. Do they already know who they are? The new songs certainly further expand. With Linda Perhacs they sing that they see the silence between the leaves ('Chimacum rain'), with the traditional 'Soldier and the lady' and 'Ach, weh das leiden' (Hans Leo Hassler) they add a few more dramatic love songs on their already impressive list, and the murder song 'Nothing is forever' (by Madou) was destined to one day pop up in Laïsland. The new song that makes my ears prick is "I enjoy". Cast Laïs, yet a surprising landscape. Sensually waltzing, they probe the other person for intimacy, to find it in both nightly dreams. How Lais shouldn't you be to erotically color a kiss like "I enjoy your blood rippling under my lips"? Tom Theuns (yes, Ambrozijn's) and Roel Porriau (Think Of One, Antwerp Gipsy Ska Orkestra) lend a hand, and Laïs seems on the way to make a warm, mature addition. Those 25 years are in them, and they are still Laïs: so on the future!
