John Stirratt (Wilco and Autumn Defense) and Paul Pilot (Amazing Pilots, Duke Special) Finding Oscar - Original Soundtrack. Film in US theatres now + Amazon Prime UK July - executive producer: Steven Spielberg. Featuring Peter Buck and Scott McCaughey covering R.E.M. Ltd edition - 500 copies only on cd.The score to "Finding Oscar" was co-composed by John Stirratt whom is the longest serving member of Wilco alongside Jeff Tweedy and the Autumn Defense plus Irish producer/composer Paul Pilot (Duke Special, the Amazing Pilots). The Finding Oscar Score is from a session in Chicago, Jan, 2016 . They were joined by Drummer, Joe Adamik (Iron and Wine, Califone) and along with engineer Stephen Shirk contributing live tape and FX manipulations. The soundtrack includes a cover of R.E.M's "Flowers of Guatemala" which features Peter Buck on 12 string guitar and Scott McCaughey on piano. John Stirratt recalls hearing the song at its time of release in 1986. "Life's Rich Pageant was R.E.M. at the top of their game, and they had mastered the subtle political song on that record. Flowers of Guatemala was a beautiful song with an unsettling core" A reworking of this song (with Stirratt on vocal duties and Buck back on guitar) for the closing credits of the film feels like an appropriate bookend to an often harrowing film and score as well as a nod to REM's early highlighting of the Guatemalan situation. Recorded at Mixed at Shirk Studios, Chicago - The Loft, Chicago - Raeumle, Berlin. About the Film - In a forgotten massacre during Guatemala's decades-long civil war, a young boy was spared, only to be raised by one of the very soldiers who killed his family. Nearly 30 years after the tragedy, it will take a dedicated team - from a forensic scientist to a young Guatemalan prosecutor - to uncover the truth and bring justice to those responsible…by finding the missing boy named Oscar. The doc premiered at Telluride Film Festival and most recently screened at DOC NYC.
