With the 'Gustav Mahler Fest Kassel', founded in 1989 by the then GMD Adam Fischer, the city received another internationally important cultural attraction in addition to the world art exhibition 'documenta'. The 1989 concert recording impressively documents the spirit of optimism of the participants, but also Fischer's achievement as an outstanding Mahler exegete of international standing. Produced here on SACD, this is a recording of the highest quality.

Recorded in 1989, Ádám was at 39 years old.
After that he broke thorough but also then he had been fresh and special :)
Why didn't they notice him ?
Was it our view of Mahler that changed ?
Many thanks

Great rich sound, full of dynamic.
Adam Fischer 1989 sounds better than Adam Fischer 2017.
My new reference Mahler 1 record.
If you like Kubelik/Bavarian or Suitner/Dresden, try this live record.
