Blofish - Three Against Two (2012)

...always unexpected, sometimes loud, then calm, subdued and quiet, but then again explosive, instrumental occasionally even accompanied by vocals - definitely surprising... music that moves you and hits you right into the heart - quite difficult to put in words and to pigeonhole. To write music, scribble down ideas and generate creative musical output is substantially easier to do for the quintet.

It all began in 2007, when the two musicians Oliver Saar (baritone sax & Tubax) together with band founder Emanuel Hauptmann (drums) brought BLOFISH to life featuring front man Martin Klingberg (trumpet & vocals). Together with their fellow musicians Dirk Steglich (saxophone) and Scott White (bass) they all were dedicated to this special lineup: three wind instruments, bass and drums. All the copositions and the playing gave them a pretty good idea about the music and how they complement one another within that formation increasing their repertoire with every time they met.

So in 2008 BLOFISH happened invited to do a concert and reading (jazz and lyrics) together with the german actor Ilja Richter in the context of their very successful Mecklenburg-Western Pomeranian summer festival tour.

This was only the beginning... due to a live recording of BLOFISH, Ulf Drechsel from RBB (Rundfunk-Berlin- Brandenburg) and Hauptmann got to meet each other. Shortly after in the Summer of 2011, Ulf invited the quintet, together with their bass player Tim Kleinsorge, to do the CD recording of "Three against Two" at the RBB studios...
