The team from Toronto, first called "The Rogues", on the way to his only big disc, changed not only the name, but also most of the composition. Ultimately, the album became a launching pad for guitarist Don Troiano and the underrated but brilliant singer Roy Kenner, who were later responsible for the band’s masterpiece “James Gang” - “Straight Shooter”. Troiano also recorded solo albums (where Kenner called), played with The Guess Who and Joe Cocker. Roy Kenner sang in a one-time project "Bush", helped singer Lisa Dalbello, joined the group "Law". Prior to the release of the album, “Mandala” carefully occupied the American market and even managed to acquire fans (one and a half thousand people came to one of the concerts in Los Angeles). The band already had a contract with Decca, but Ahmet Ertegün personally outbid it for his Atlantic. But then it somehow went wrong - at first, bass player Don Elliot was seriously injured in a car accident. At concerts, a keyboard player tried to replace him, but everything began to fall apart. While they were looking for a replacement for Elliot (he was replaced by Prakash John, who later played on the records of Alice Cooper, Lou Reed and “Funkadelic”), the audience cooled down, carried away by other groups, and the release of a strong single with the song “You Got Me”, and then the album “Soul” Crusade ”went unnoticed. The group broke up, which now can only be regretted.
