Sylvester - Rock the Box (1992) [Reissue 2007]

Not content with producing one of the biggest and best disco tracks of the 70’s with You Make me Feel Sylvester has consistently created cutting edge dance music which not only manages to escape the clichés of disco and transcend the limitations other tracks in the genre suffer from. This record released in 1984 has an edge few records can claim to match. The opening melody is classic Sylvester. With melodies as strong as his snare. This was the 80’s and the snare drum ruled the rhythm track and Sylvester full embraced this trend. To further distance itself from the glut of disco at the time this has a haunting vocal due to Sylvester’s unique vocal style that elevates it from other tracks in the same genre. Despite being over 30 years old, it still manages to sound totally futuristic and ahead of it’s time.
