Fingerstyle and singer / songwriter become one. Her soft voice is gently embedded in the warm sounds of her guitar.
Judith Beckedorf started playing guitar at the age of 14, gave her first solo concerts early on and soon she moved to her adopted home of Dresden to study acoustic guitar. In search of her own musical language, she headed to Nashville, Tennessee for a while, where, inspired by American folk music, she began to indulge in new instruments such as mandolin and banjo and where she discovered her love for songwriting.
On their album “Behind The Blue Sea” thoughts and folky melodies are now finding their place between crunchy grooves and graceful ballads. Judith Beckedorf philosophizes about what she observes around herself, at herself or near her: light-heartedness and the difficulty of showing weakness, farewell and eternal connection or rain, which flushes everything away and ensures a new beginning and what the northern lights least like: wasting time. With the title song of the album “Don’t Waste Your Time” she celebrates her departure into a new musical world and her debut as a singer / songwriter.
But Judith Beckedorf rarely stands still. She gives solo concerts and tours regularly with her progressive folk / americana trio “Standard Crow Behavior”, which has a special focus on sophisticated arrangements and harmony singing and for which she writes, sings and plays guitar, mandolin and banjo. In Nashville she founded the concert series “International Guitar Nights” and with the Dutch Karlijn Langendijk and Vivek Advani from India she founded “MusiSHEans”, a network for the promotion of musicians *.
Her guitar hero Tommy Emmanuel once said to her: “You are a magician!”
