Volume three (3) of DGG's tribute to Martha Argerich's artistry as has been evidenced by her many recordings for that company is awesome indeed. In this wonderful grouping of previous releases, we have divine chamber music such as the: Rachmaninov "Symphonic Dances"; Bartok's "Sonata for two pianos and Percussion"; Brahms `first Piano Quartet, et al, along with some rather unknown, works that were ether written for small ensemble or arranged for same such as Tchaikovsky's "The Nutcracker suite" from the ballet arranged for two pianos; Ravel's "Ma Mere L'oye" arranged for two pianos, et al. The arrangements all tended to be "new" to me in their "guises" in this recording; however they all are thrilling played as is everything in this six (6) disc set. Martha is joined by some very imminent musicians in this collection such as: Nelson Freire, piano; Gidon Kremer, violin; Mischa Maisky, cello, etc. This is a wonderful tribute to Martha's talents and to her love and devotion to chamber music. All that I can say to this very fine compilation is bravo.
