Truth was founded in 1969 in Cedar Rapids (Iowa) by three musicians: Billy Janey, Steve Bock and John Fillingsworth. She got her name from the name of one of the Jeff Beck albums, whose music was admired by the founders of the band at that time. In addition to Beck, their creative landmarks were the work of Cream and Jimi Hendrix. Soon after the founding of the group, the first change took place in its composition - for the drum kit of the Denis Bunce villages. In 1972, the band released their first single, Midnight Horseman / Under My Thumb. The first song was written by the musicians themselves, and on the second side of the record there was a cover of the composition “Rolling Stones”. A year later, they self-funded released their second single, “Straight Eight Pontiac / Around And Around,” but when they found out that a band called “Truth” already existed, they changed their name to “Truth And Janey”. So the second single was released under a new name. In the period from 1973 to 1975, the team actively toured the United States and Canada. At one time, musicians were fortunate enough to accompany Leslie West on his American tour, and also to speak to an audience of 20,000 people as a warming-up composition for Blue Oyster Cult. In 1976, the group was finally able to sign a contract for the release of the album, and soon on the shelves appeared its album “No Rest For The Wicked”. Unfortunately, the public practically didn’t notice it, especially since only 1000 copies were printed. The change in musical fashion practically did not leave any chances for survival for this little-known, but very pretty hard trio. In 1977, only the guitarist Bill Janey remained from the previous composition of the group. Focusing on new-fangled trends, the group released the second short-run album "Just A Little Bit Of Magic" in the style of "disco", which, due to its irrelevance, was not re-released subsequently. Burning up and with this plate, the group broke up completely. Bassist Steve Bock moved to California, where he joined Nowhere Fast pop rockers, drummer Denis Bunce quit his music career altogether, and guitarist Bill Janey switched to blues. He still performs at bars and clubs and records blues records under the name "Billylee Janey".
