Fiddle player Ian McCamy met iconic cartoonist (and amateur musician) Robert Crumb in 2009 when both were living in the south of France. It was there that Crumb introduced McCamy to the joys of American mountain, string band, and Klezmer music. From that introduction, McCamy asked Crumb to join him and two other ex-pat musicians (one American and one English) to record an album of old-time music. The result was McCamy’s Melody Sheiks and this album, recorded in the living room of McCamy’s home in Sauve, France. The liner notes provide a brief back story about each song.
