On May 1, 2020, SibaRecords, a record label at the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki, will release Awake Percussion's debut album Broken, featuring four previously unrecorded works by Tim Ferchen. This is SibaRecords ’first release to play exclusively percussion music. The album will be released in CD and digital formats.

Awake Percussion is a percussion band formed in 2016, known for their extensive repertoire, seamless ensemble playing and impressive performances. With their debut album, the band focuses on the production of percussionist Tim Ferchen, an American-Finnish percussionist. The album features the diverse influences of Ferchen’s 50-year career, ranging from the soundscapes of old masters to the rhythmic and harmonious suction typical of Steve Reich’s music, which has become familiar to Ferchen over the years with the Reich. Countless chamber music projects in Finland and a 35-year career in the Radio Symphony Orchestra have also left their mark on Ferchen's production.

–Broken album's works are combined with the rich use of tonal colors and textures and, above all, rhythm. Each song on the album deals with percussion instruments from a different perspective, in turn highlighting the percussion-free percussion instruments, melodic percussion instruments, and combinations of acoustic and electronic sounds, Ferchen says.
