Caroline Schmidt-Polex was born in Freising in 1976 and received her first harp lessons at the age of 10. While still in high school in Eggenfelden, she was a young student at the University of Music in Munich with Prof. Helga Storck and a member of the Bavarian State Youth Orchestra. In 1997 she began her concert studies at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, which she completed in 2001 with Prof. Edward Witsenburg with the 1st concert diploma (with distinction) and in 2004 with Prof. Sarah O'Brian with the 2nd concert diploma, which earned her the title " Magistra Artium ". Additional work in the Mozarteum Orchestra at the Salzburg State Theater and the Bad Reichenhall Philharmonic Orchestra accompanied her studies. In 2001 she became a scholarship holder of the "Live Music Now" Salzburg Foundation founded by Lord Yehudi Menuhin. The harpist has been living in Eggenfelden again since 2003 and gives concerts both as a soloist and in various chamber music formations and orchestras. Since 2013 she has been a permanent member of the ensemble at Enrico de Paruta's Christmas singing 'Heilige Nacht' by Ludwig Thoma. In addition to her concert activities, she teaches at the music schools in Bad Birnbach, the district music school in Passau and privately.
