K.bytes - I Adore Commodore (2017)

Way back in 1983, computer-obsessed Italian composer Marcello Giombini decided to create an album entirely using Commodore 64 home computers. I Adore Commodore, which included tracks created by syncing up 10 units at a time, was largely forgotten until Mondo Groove started digging around in the composer's discography a couple of years back. Happily, the album has lost none of its distinctive charms, with "chiptune" style 8-bit melodies wrapping themselves around bustling electronic grooves that variously touch on Italo-disco, synth-pop, jazz-funk, dub disco and the kind of far-east electronica pioneered by Yellow Magic Orchestra. Eagle-eyed games nerds will notice that all of the tracks are named after C64 games; for his sins, Giombini was as obsessed with joystick waggling as music making.
