From time to time it can be contemplative in hard metal life, and the dark rockers from The Great Dictators are ideal for this. What the band delivers here is ideal for a warm summer evening after a hard day, to wind down and down.
It doesn't always have to be cracking guitars, clattering drums and screeching vocals, but also sometimes a flattering synthesizer sound. Coupled with the pleasant voice of Dragut Lugalzagosi, which sometimes whines, sometimes powerfully comes out of the speakers, matching the singing saw by Jakob Lundorff.
The Copenhagen-based band, which has been active since 2011, treats the singer's severe depression on the sound carrier and skilfully stages it. Titles like Killing Fields, Existential Needs and Creep For Life speak for themselves.
One Eye Opener is definitely not an album to listen to on the side, it is an album that you should get involved with. Not a crashing party sound, but something to sink into, something that you should let yourself penetrate. Then the songs can spread all their strength in one and encourage you to rest.
Conclusion: An all-round successful album for the melancholy hours of life, which one can and should often take to one's mind with a clear conscience. There are nine out of ten bangs by me.
