Kevin Field is a jazz pianist and composer who was born in New Zealand. He has played concerts in the UK, USA, Australia and New Zealand and has participated in over 40 album productions. He has collaborated with several internationally successful jazz greats, including Nir Felder, George Garzone, Matt Penman, James Muller and Will Vinson. He is currently a lecturer for "Jazz.Studies" at the University of Auckland. Kevin's compositions have been broadcast in Australia, UK, Ireland, USA, Denmark, Netherlands, Singapore, Japan, Norway, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Israel and in the Czech Republic.

"Soundtology" shows the harmonic and rhythmic development of pianist and composer Kevin Field in collaboration with some of the most respected names in contemporary jazz. Recorded in Brooklyn, New York, it combines two star ensemble quartets.

The first shows Kevin with guitarist Mike Moreno, one of the leading modern jazz guitarists of the century and two of the most sought-after rhythmic musicians in New York: bassist Matt Penman, who has played on over 80 albums as a well-known studio musician and drummer Nate Wood, who is especially for his Known to work with the Grammy-nominated band Kneebody.

The ensemble of the second quartet includes Kevin guitarist Nir Felder - a unique voice of instrumental music. Kevin and Nir have already played together in the studio and live - this close collaboration can clearly be heard on "Soundtology". Also there is Charles Haynes, one of the most versatile drummers of his generation who has already been involved in productions by a wide variety of artists such as Kanye West, Lady Gaga, Marcus Miller and Jason Moran. Rounding it off is bassist Orlando le Fleming, whose high level of expertise in both electrical and acoustic bass on "Soundtology" is undeniable.

Pianist Kevin Field acts as a musical leader with his special approach to composition and improvisation. With his integrative concept, he ensures that both quartets interact perfectly with each other. "Soundtology" - that is musical tension and relaxation that crosses different genres and is both stimulating and engaging, thus strengthening the relationship to music between performer and listener.
