"With ""Da Xia"" the Germany-based band Anton Mangold Quartet is releasing its second album. The energetic tunes are written by bandleader Anton Mangold: Notably the martial arts-inspired and effectively stadium-suitable tune "Da Xia"" shall be mentioned here. The album is complemented by a futuristic narrative written by Theodor Spannagel (bass), who emerges there also a thoughtful vocalist. The band sound is fueled via the intense playing by Felix Restschikow-Schneider (keys) and Zhitong Xu (drums). Zhihan Xu (guitar) appears as a guest on selected tunes and thus expands the musical framework the band operates in considerably. Most compositions contain musical input and attitudes from far eastern sound aesthetics: Certain musical discourses were absorbed by the musicians, as the Anton Mangold Quartet had the opportunity to tour through China several times."
