Always Know Monk - Humph (2020)

For this second album dedicated to Monk's music, Yves Marcotte has chosen to extend the classical training of the quartet without piano with the addition of two singular voices in the current jazz landscape: the violist Christophe Monniot and the trombonist Nils Wogram. The arrangements thus gain in density, but also in intensity with an inspired and fiery performance from both the guests and musicians of the group Shems Bendali, Zacharie Canut and Nathan Vandenbulcke. With her assertive stylistic choices, this album marks another step in the search for a new and personal approach to the music of a genius of modern music.
