Trigg & Gusset are Bart Knol (keys/electronics) and Erik van Geer (tenor saxophone/bass clarinet). Their common passion for slow jazz, atmospheric electronics and tense grooves resulted in 2013 in their debut-album ‘Legacy of the Witty’. This album was released under the Polish label ‘Preserved Sound’ and sold out shortly after.
After a short European tour the two musicians decided in 2014 to create a successor to ‘Legacy of the Witty’, entitled ‘Adagio for the Blue’. With the 2nd album the thread of the 1st album is put by, with more accent on composition. Voiced themes supported by layered chords alternated with improvised solos. The musical duo was assisted by several guest musicians, including trumpeter Coen Hamelink, flamenco-guitarist Midas Ghijsels and double bass players Just Lavooy and Dominique Bentvelsen.
For their 3rd album to release in 2020 they continued to progress in that same direction. More instruments were recorded live, working with most of the previous guest musicians but including also live drums by Jort Nijhuis and Marcel van As and flute from Famke van Daalen and guitar from Jurren Mekking. These live recordings give the album its edge but they didn’t wonder far off from their passion of slow jazz.
