Ocie Elliott - In That Room (2020)

Jon Middleton and Sierra Lundy met by chance in a café almost two years ago. It quickly became clear that the two were doing something together - humanly as well as musically. An EP and the debut album "We Fall In" were released during this time and with their song "Run To You" they became known to the fans of "Grey's Anatomy". What the duo makes there can best be described as acoustic indie folk and there are now seven new songs to be heard with “In That Room”.

The duo from Victoria, B.C., Canada tells delicate stories about love and life for about 25 minutes. The two do not need much more than their wonderful voices and a cleat. Gentle vocal harmonies also meet a reduced but well-dosed instrumentation, which ensures a pleasant feeling overall, which is retained over the entire season. OCIE ELLIOTT simply warm their listeners' hearts with every track and therefore it makes no sense to pick out individual pieces. Each song is simply and poignantly beautiful without being cheesy in any way. But if you want to listen in advance, you have the opportunity to do so with the single release "Forest Floor".

While Jon and Sierra recorded a large number of live acoustic videos in their Honda CR-V, because, according to their own statements, they offer organically round and self-contained acoustics (my sister-in-law also drives such a cart and also raves about the fact that one can quasi live in it), OCIE ELLIOTT's latest studio output “In That Room” refers to their one-room apartment, in which they naturally spend a lot of time and of course also live out their creativity. No question: here two have found each other that simply belong together!
