Born in 1939, Brooklyn, New York. His first international hit as a songwriter was ''Stupid Cupid'' in 1958 recorded by Connie Francis. His ability to write sophisticated pop songs rapidly established his own career with world wide hits. ''Oh Carol'', ''Breaking Up Is So Hard To Do'' and ''Calendar Girl'' are just a few of the singles that propelled sales of his albums to 25 million by 1963.
