Troyka - Troyka (Reissue, Bonus Track, Remastered) (1970/2014)

Canadian prog rock trio from Edmonton (province of Alberta). The group was founded in 1967 in Montreal, where at that time all three lived and was originally called "The Royal Family". By signing a contract with Cotillion Records (a division of Atlantic Studios), in 1970 the band released their only self-titled album. The song "Natural" was released as a single, but did not hit the charts. Having gained the reputation of a concert group, they performed at Fillmore East and Ungano's in New York, were at the opening at Rare Earth in Washington and Blue Cheer in Detroit, as well as Canned Heat and The Byrds in Edmonton. Having made a big tour along the eastern coast of the USA together with Savoy Brown and Family, they finished the tour to Toronto, performing at the Electric Circus Club with the Mountain group. After this show, Robert Edwards announced that he was leaving the band. Before heading home, Michael Richards and Rumor Lukawietsky hired Bob Styrna as a new guitarist. In the spring of 1971, they made a trip to Los Angeles hoping to release a second album, most of which was recorded when Edwards was in the lineup. Unfortunately, they did not succeed and in the summer the group disintegrated.
