La Bedoune, Funny name! but what does that mean?
La Bedoune is the nickname that Cécile Perfetti proudly and modestly displays at the same time this uprooted woman, parachuted from her native Auvergne in Toulouse.
(It is in Auvergne that a cow is a Bedoune. In India it is sacred !!)
When Greg Perfetti meets Cécile, he knows that she will be his partner but not only. He is a guitarist, he sees far for her and convinces her to learn bass. They set up a small formation, do a few times, he on the guitar, making her arms as a singer / bass player on a repertoire as eclectic as their respective tastes.
They leave the Auvergne region for Toulouse and it is in a small village in the Tarn, that they are struck in the heart by listening to a group of blues from New Orleans. It's certain ! This is the music they both want to do!
So they stuff themselves with blues culture of all kinds: Bessie Smith, Alberta Hunter, BB King, Lonnie Johnson, Slim Harpo and so many others! Everything is good to try to satisfy their immense appetite.
They recruit a drummer and LA BEDOUNE BLUES TRIO comes out of the egg. They skim all possible places and imaginable at the rate of 80 concerts per year. The repertoire is expanding with a few covers of Otis Redding, Albert King, Wilson Pickett, Sam and Dave because it must be admitted, La Soul devours Cécile and always brings her back to: "I would like to be black" from this sacred Nino Ferrer who has everything of a real incantation in his eyes!
After 10 years on stage for three, Cécile and Greg rethink La Bedoune, less electric, without drummer ... Their desire is to be able to broadcast their music not in an "incendiary" form but rather as serenely as a river ... It is difficult to stop a stream.
Now, compositions take over on covers. They have the multiple musical colors with which Cécile is deeply imbued. The texts are in English, for taste: "this language is so pleasant to sing" and for modesty: "understands who wants". The subject is simple and as advised Pablo (singer emeritus of the Glory Hogs): "you're sad? angry ? happy? Sing it and it becomes blues !! "
