Don Rogerson - I Love Sex (2020)

Freedom means a lot to me. The desire to express myself, using emotion, intellect, and the feelings of the body, it seems like a desire for peacefulness filled me. So many of us from my generation were instructed to seek out a learning of the history of music, and maybe some of them got tired of it. After sharing a keen interest in many forms of jazz, free jazz, sometimes seen as for a selective audience, I started to notice a slight rise in availability from current artists, just after I had started taking a few steps in that direction. That was after years of playing in fusion, rock bands, and Caribbean style bands. I started to feel that after all these harmonies, scales, and intervals that we'd been practicing, with all that they make available, rhythm could be focused on more directly, in an acoustic setting. I really had to bring the volume down on my sax, (tenor this time), to match the acoustic guitar and acoustic bass guitar, neither of them plugged in, and still it was quite loud in comparison. I have plans to continue bringing the volume of an all acoustic band, unplugged, into a more blended sound. I hope this doesn't sound obnoxious, but I thought a tasteful approach to free jazz might be an avenue for me.
