Program 17 made this album starting in 2013 -2016.
Using a Sequential Circuits, Pro one, Roland tb-303, Arp Axxe, Linn Drum TR505 a roland tr8 and a Alesis Quadraverb. Usiing different combinations of reverb, delays cv/gate and triggers.
~ I Really had a strong connection with the Early Detroit Rock scene such as iggy pop and MC5, So I would run Analog synthesizers to vintage Electro Harmonix guitar pedals Becuase it had that rawness instead of a plan synthesizer. I later got the tb303. Then I fell in love with intense sequencing. This album really represents my music style from Detroit. And using some of the original instruments during that time from Detroit to capture this sound that was familiar to me and the 1980s mid-1990s.
I was very inspired by hearing kraftwerk and egyptian lover, Dre Dre and P funk. I would go to predominantly black roller skating rinks and Biblo Island and carnivals in Detroit & Pontiac, Michigan in the 1980s. I really wanted to have aspects of a 808-908-303 plan, of course a Linn Drum. It was the old style of a house. Of old-style of Electro such as drexciya and direct Beat Records. But also has a lot of funk of aspects of rhythms by Prince. Overtime I modified all my gear with midi so they can all talk to each other. And some songs there is a ebb and flow. Almost like an ocean.
I wanted to represent a natural element. Some parts are very scary, but are very beautiful at the same time. Kind of how Detroit was when I grew up. A lot of it was learning. A lot of it was using a new techniques. With filters and CV gate mixed with old styles.
Using Styles before YouTube videos. I Incorporated a lot of Lo-Fi downtempo Beats a inspiration from one of my heroes J dilla.
Almost all the songs created on here are from taking my own samples from my own synthesizers. Or from funk breaks used in a lot of classic hip hop songs. I try to find a sweet spot with the frquencys and a over drive. To me there is something special about the Original Gear.
Maybe its the ghost in the machine.
