“In the 70s and 80s, an aesthetic trend was born in France, called“ Spectral ”, marking a stage in the thought of sound, timbre, and more particularly of its evolution over time. Gérard Grisey was one of the main representatives. The impact of this thought was great in the 90s on the work of Fausto Romitelli Who kept certain principles of it, in particular in the process of transformation by wave, by integrating there external references to the music known as “learned”, in particular of the Pop and "electrified" music. The fact of drawing elsewhere brought an immense possibility of freedom in the thought of the generation which followed that of Romitelli. Perhaps this is one of the reasons why a new current was born in the 2000s, of which Franck Bedrossian and Yann Robin are part, which we rightly or rightly called that of "Saturation" and which, beyond the central place of the timbre, excess in all its dimensions (gestures, intensities, speeds, masses ...) would open up new instrumental possibilities inevitably leading to a new opening towards the unheard of ... "
