The group was formed in 1965 in the USA. The Good Rats are considered to be one of the first performers of “garage rock”, although some experts tend to consider this group as pioneers of art rock, using elements of hard rock in their style. After the release of the debut album, The Good Rats performed in New York clubs, scattering rubber bats during concerts - it is believed that the musicians chose the modified logo of the company engaged in the production of such models ("Gooden Rats") as the name.
The public ignored the Good Rats record, and in August 1972 the group broke up - Mickey Marcello found work at a gas station, his brother Peppy worked as a waiter, drove a truck, and at one time even collected and sorted garbage. In January 1973, The Good Rats were reformed, in 1974 they signed a contract with Warner Bros, and released the album "Tasty" - despite the fact that the record turned out to be very interesting, its circulation, however, did not even reach the mark of 50 thousand . Until the mid-70s, The Good Rats performed in New York clubs, and in 1976 founded their own record company Rat City Records, which released a good album, Rat City In Blue. At the end of 1978, the group signed a new contract with Passport and, with the help of the production company Flo And Eddie, recorded the album “From Rats To Riches”, which was a success even in Evpone. The next record, “Birth Comes Tol Us AN,” was recorded by the musicians in England at The Who’s studio “Ramport Studios,” and among those who helped create it were Mann red Mann and Max Middleton from Jessry Beck. Despite the impressive the composition of the recordings, the album failed, and The Good Rats broke up again. In 1981, a colleague got together again, recorded the mediocre album Great American Music and broke up again In the early 90s, an attempt was made to reorganize The Good Rats, but the Map brothers they intended to bring Elton John to the record, which turned out to be It’s a hopeless affair.
