Singer songwriter, Joe Grant Gage, is about as appropriate a 'troubadour' as they come. In his own words, "Staying in one place too long has never been one of my strong points." A native Texan, Joe strayed far and wide from his home to jobs in Arkansas, Colorado, Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia, and finally settling in Alabama, all while raising a family, nurturing a deep love for music, and developing a multi-instrumentalist talent. Over the years this versatile artist has played in dance hall cover bands and became a regularly 'hired gun' handling lead and harmony vocals or playing guitar for a variety of bands and acts. His primary influences have always gravitated back towards the John Mellencamps, James Taylors and Jim Croces of the world. Joe realized that the stories and lyrical pictures painted by the songwriters was where the true musical treasures lie, so he chose to follow a path more true to himself as an original artist who had, literally, lived the Americana genre'.
Joe Grant Gage calls upon his raising by an English teacher Mother, along with his experiences in the blue collar working world of sawmills and factories to inform his stories set to song. Megan McMillan of the Black Warrior Songwriters Festival in Tuscaloosa, Alabama said "Joe’s songs are multi-faceted stories which are clear as a bell, but can also be built upon by the listener. His compelling lyrics, along with his smooth voice and interesting melodies, create a scene that the listener can feel."
