Oleg Tumanov - On The Way From Brazil (2020)

The first Brazilian music that Russian pianist and composer Oleg Tumanov heard in his life was not even sung in Portuguese. But the melody of Don't let samba die (Edson Conceição and Aloísio Silva) soon impressed him. A while later, when he discovered Alcione's recording, he was so overwhelmed that he soon decided to research more about music production in Brazil.

The 13 tracks that make up On the way from Brazil - Oleg Tumanov's (Warner) bossa nova are the concrete result of this passion. Newly released in the country, the disc brings together a series of bambas interpreting compositions by the Russian musician. The songs are a partnership with the carioca Mauro Aguiar, who wrote the lyrics for 11 tracks - there are two instrumentals.

The team of interpreters brings together Paulinho Moska, Joyce Moreno, Leila Pinheiro, Celso Fonseca, Jane Duboc and Luciana Alves. The album was recorded at the Companhia dos Técnicos studio, in Copacabana. On the foreign side, there was the participation of the Russian pianist Alexey Podymkin and the French Baptiste Herbin and Idriss Boudrioua (both saxophonists) and Emile Saubole (drummer). On the Brazilian side, in addition to the arranger and musical director Rafael Rocha, the collective album featured the guitar by Bernardo Ramos, the piano by Eduardo Farias, the bass by Jefferson Lescowich and the percussion by Dada Costa.
