Since the release of their last EP "Mirrors", Teepee have written a number of songs inspired by their personal experiences and stories collected during their travels and during their stay in the Basque Country or India
Besides the fragile melancholy inherent in the music of Teepee, the new album also reflects lighter emotions of the duo (consisting of Tereza Lavicková and Miroslav Patocka)
The new album "Where the Ocean Breaks" is about hope, reconciliation, love, change, but also about the inequalities in our society and the connection to nature. It revolves around a whole range of themes that have shaped the duo in recent years
The album was recorded at the Aurora Studios in Vienna together with producer Tom O. Marsh, who besides his own project Those Goddamn Hippies also performed with bands like HVOB and IAMX as drummer. Working with Tom O. Marsh as producer is not the only innovation, as the album is released on the Berlin label SPRINGSTOFF, which has been working with the band since the beginning of 2019.
"The production of Where the Ocean Breaks, which took almost a year and a half, was truly a transformative experience for both of us. Individual, but also for the band itself. I think the record represents a significant change in our sound. We are really grateful to our producer Tom, who showed us a completely different approach to music production, gave us room to experiment and guided us very patiently through the process," explains singer Miroslav
"We are very happy to work with the Berlin label Springstoff because we have found people with whom we get along well both personally and politically. That's why we are very proud to be a member of the queer-feminist label that cares about the environment and is full of great people," Tereza says.
