Little Joya was originally released as a free companion to 1997's Joya album, and that is really the only appropriate reason for owning it. The single consists of one real song ("Joya"), and two minute-and-a-half experimental works (read: filler) that sound more like they were written by Jim O'Rourke, who in fact mastered the album. "Joya" itself is slow and beautiful (think Red House Painters), and about as good as Oldham songs come. Nevertheless, with the abundance of longer, more developed Oldham records out there, this single should only interest those trying to complete their collections.
