R. Strauss by Boeh: DG stereo session recording of the orchestral works is assembled into two pieces.
The nameplate revives scales with the latest technology! Except for "life of hero", it is the world's first SA-CD!
"Hero's lifetime" is new and digitized, released with the latest mastering!
From the R. Strauss recording which can be said to be a life work of Boehm, we have assembled 7 orchestral works recorded in stereo recording on the DG label into two sets. Early in stereo in 1958 DG's wonderful recording at that time "Zarathustra" became famous as a synonym for this song and is a historical sound source that became popular afterwards. Orchestral works by stereo recording were mainly carried out by the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and only the "Hero's Lifetime" of the later years was recorded with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. This "life of the hero" also boasts not only the name of Boehm but still a high popularity as a representative performance of this song. In addition, in this coupling it was stored in order of recording chronology. The first song was sold at first time alone, and from the second track to the fifth track, we placed one album in the original order of recording. The sixth song "From the Roses of the Roses" was originally included in the compilation "Butoh dance invitation" at the beginning. And finally we have the seventh song "Hero's Life". Only this song was previously marketed as SA-CD single layer, but in this reprint, we did not use the previous master, newly digitize with higher quality (192 kHz / 24 bit) than the original original analog master tape We performed the latest remastering using that sound source.
Boehm has friendship with R. Strauss and of course it has been greatly influenced in terms of the interpretation of the song. R. Strauss' music making by Boehm never never deformed to unduly emphasize the orchestration but was mainly about spinning music as much as it is said to be a natural body in the flow of music to the last. It is also R. Strauss's own idea, so that it does not become an extreme music like a flauntful expression that will hinder the flow or a part that will make it show off, Bohm's music played with close attention It can be said that it is an R. Strauss performance that has increased artistically. By increasing the resolution with the latest SA-CD, the thorough insistence of Boehm became visible to details. Along with that, you can feel the high level of functionality of the Berlin Philharmonic of those days and the distinctive timbres of Germany as orcases everywhere. Also, Vienna Phil's good responsive performance of 76 years of recording is also an interesting element along with the timbre.
