About Andsnes as a soloist, the composer says: "He is so clear and plays so precisely. And my music relies on extreme precision. It's almost manic - and I can't help it. That's why I could never get any better than him to play it! ”When Eivind Gullberg Jensen was to lead his first concert as chief conductor for the Norddeutsche Rundfunk Sinfonie Orchestra in Hanover in 2009, he commissioned a new piece by Ketil Hvoslef - to“ bring something from home ". The result was the orchestral work Ein Traumspiel, which is based on August Strindberg's poetic drama. Stein Winge set up Ghelderode's play Barabbas in Oslo in 1981, and Hvoslef composed music for the performance. The theme led Hvoslef on in the opera of the same name, and finally in the orchestral work Barabbas - opera without singers, where excerpts from the opera libretto are shown on a text machine above the orchestra as the action in the work progresses. Throughout his composer career, Hvoslef has had a close relationship with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, which has performed and commissioned a number of his works.
