Nathan Ott Quartet - Shades of Red (2019)

The quartet of the young Wahl-Berliner Nathan Ott and his longtime mentor and musical companion Dave Liebman, which has been the subject of numerous international tours in recent years, presents the new album "Shades of Red" (Unit Records 2019), and not only presents one of the most important voices of our time on the soprano saxophone, but also brings them together with the haunting tone of newly-crowned SWR jazz award winner Sebastian Gille, to merge into a distinctive texture. The fascinating musician constellation for this tour is completed by Felix Henkelhausen, a young talent from Berlin, who has already worked together with many well-known jazz greats. Inspired by the spirit of the legendary Lighthouse Edition of the 1970s Elvin Jones Band, the ensemble enters the realms of surrealistic transparency and poetic elegance without ever losing touch - a high-intensity live experience!

Dave Liebman is one of the driving forces of contemporary jazz and is one of the central saxophonists of Coltrane influenced modernism. Since the early 1970s, when he aroused worldwide sensation through his musical collaboration with Miles Davis and Elvin Jones, he has been a great influence as a saxophonist, bandleader, composer, author and teacher.
