Steve Bruce Roberts presents "Perfect Years" (Stamp Microscope 2018), his new album.
A record of 10 songs written in a style that Steve Bruce Roberts says "retro-hybridism" and that mixes influences throughout his career, such as the 70's power-pop song That Boy, the Butterfly psychedelia, the blues -Copy of the Creatures of the Pen, the folk ether of Templeton Terrace or the disc-reggae-Balkan of Things I Did not Do.
Perfect Years is a sardonic look and will have the past and the present of a dream of life; An eclectic but balanced poppy that combines pop joy with strong and mild rhythms; a sample of modern classicism that offers something for everyone, and that does not leave motionless nor emotionless.
It has been recorded and produced by Roger Gascon (The Lazy Lies, Chet) at the Cadenza studio (Barcelona), with a team of luxury musicians: Roger Gascon himself (drums, percussion, keyboards, choirs), Louis Lambeau (bass and double bass), Olalla Wallin (violin and choir), Toni Rosselló (accordion), Ester Umbert (violoncello) and Rob Morris (harmonica).
Steve hit him hard rock in the early 70's, when he started playing bass in Weymouth bands, his hometown in England. At age 18, in full swing of punk and new wave, he moved to London where he played in forgotten groups of garage and electro-pop such as The Plugs or Home Service. Later, he went to live in a village lost in France, leaving the music parked to dedicate himself to writing. Years later he settled in Barcelona, where he played guitar again and sang in bands like White Shadow. He currently lives in Sant Boi de Llobregat and develops music projects of various genres recording solo albums as well as with other formations such as Grog (folk-pop) and The Brothers Dupree (blues and American)..
