Vocalist David McAlmont s first album in a decade is a loving homage to the jazz life, recorded with some of the UK s finest jazz musicians. Working closely with songwriter, arranger and pianist Alex Webb, McAlmont fully justifies the Independent s praise as one of British pop's most precious hidden treasures. As one half of McAlmont & Butler (alongside Suede guitarist, songwriter and producer Bernard Butler), David McAlmont left an indelible mark on the music of the 1990s and 2000s. His musical endeavours have taken him on an intriguing journey, influencing the creative landscape across decades. His startling vocal ability prompted Melody Maker journalist Taylor Parkes to comment: One day he will open his mouth and a cathedral will fall out . He has recorded with Courtney Pine, Michael Nyman and David Arnold; in 2016 he recorded a track for the album Call Me Lucky by Alex Webb and the Copasetics. On The Last Bohemians, David McAlmont teams up again with Webb, a songwriter and musician with a track record of working with top vocalists and together they deliver an album that celebrates jazz without predictability or nostalgia. The Last Bohemians contains a varied repertoire of originals (including two new songs co-written by David) in a wide range of imaginative arrangements that perfectly showcase McAlmont s voice. The covers include Queen s Love Of My Life , Suede s The Wild Ones , R.E.M. s Find The River and The Beatles I m So Tired , Produced by bass maestro Andrew Cleyndert and featuring performances by Tony Kofi (saxes) Andy Davies (trumpet) and Jonathan Preiss (guitar), The Last Bohemians is an unforgettable love letter to the jazz life.
